Guwahati, Assam — The flood situation in Assam remains severe, with torrential rains and swelling rivers in Upper Assam causing water levels that local officials describe as unprecedented in decades.

Cabinet ministers have been deployed directly to the frontlines in affected districts to oversee relief distribution and monitor embankment integrity, while the Indian Army and Indian Air Force have been put on standby to assist with airlift and deep-water rescues if conditions deteriorate further.
